Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains how personal data is processed when you visit this website. I process as little data as possible and use no analytics or tracking services.
Controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website is:
Ing. Fabian Franz Steiner BSc., Wurmbstraße 44/8, 1120 Vienna, Austria. Email: [email protected]
Hosting and delivery
This website is a static site provided through GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., USA) and delivered via the Cloudflare content delivery network (Cloudflare, Inc., USA). Both providers are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and act as processors on my behalf.
When the site is requested, these services process technically necessary access data such as your IP address, date and time, the requested resource and information about your browser and operating system. This is required to deliver the site securely and reliably. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in secure and performant delivery (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
In doing so, Cloudflare may set a technically necessary cookie (__cf_bm) to protect against automated abuse.
Fonts, icons and images
All fonts (Mulish, Saira Extra Condensed), icons (Font Awesome) and images, including the status badges in the projects area, are served from this website's own server. They are not loaded from third-party services, so no data about you is transmitted to any third party when the page is displayed.
Local storage and cookies
Your language and theme (light/dark) preference is stored exclusively locally in your browser (localStorage). This information is not transmitted to me or to third parties and serves only to retain your choice on your next visit.
No cookies are set for analytics or advertising purposes. As only technically necessary storage is used, no consent (and no cookie banner) is required under Section 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act (TKG 2021).
Contacting me
If you contact me by email ([email protected]), I process the data you provide solely to handle your request. The legal basis is the initiation or performance of a contract and my legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
The appointment-booking button leads to a Microsoft service (Outlook/Bookings) and is only called when you click it; Microsoft's privacy terms then apply.
Retention and your rights
Access data in server logs is retained by the hosting providers only as long as necessary for operation and security. I keep email enquiries for as long as needed to handle them and to meet legal obligations.
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and the right to object. To exercise these rights, please use the email address stated above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, dsb.gv.at).
